Sunday Preview: Brick Like Me

Homer finds himself in a world where everyone and everything in Springfield are made of LEGO pieces. Oh boy I do love Legos. At least I used to play with them a ton when I was but a wee lad. Coincidentally, it was around the same time in my life I loved The Simpsons as well.  Ah, to be young again. Anyway, aside from all the hype for this episode, and the multitude of news articles with Al Jean quotes about how this is not a marketing ploy, I imagine this is much like the moment when your significant other…

“Invasion of the 60 Foot Homer Simpson Easter Rabbit”

“Okay, that was the sand movie.  Now it’ll just take me a second to set up our next movie.” – Miss Hoover  A couple of weeks ago, the guy in Britain who does the giant Simpsons drawings in sand e-mailed in with some pictures of his latest creation: a giant Homer Easter Bunny on the banks of the Thames.  Behold: You can see more pictures at his site. including a completely different giant Easter Homer and one of Bender.  Thanks, Martin!

Reading Digest: Marketing Success Edition

“Everyone is saying Gabbo this and Gabbo that!  But no one is saying worship this and Jericho that!” – Reverend Lovejoy “What’s this about Gabbo?” – Jasper  Yet another clipped Reading Digest this week because there are two idiotic pieces of public relations sucking up the internet’s attention.  Firstly, they released a trailer for this week’s much hyped Lego episode.  For the record, I quite liked The Lego Movie and it would be a welcome and pleasant surprise if Sunday’s episode was even half as entertaining.  But I do not have my hopes up. Secondly, Jean, a practiced hand at managing PR…

Quote of the Day

“You make me sick, Homer.  You’re the one who told me I could do anything if I just put my mind to it!” – Bart Simpson “Well, now that you’re a little bit older, I can tell you that’s a crock!  No matter how good you are at something there’s always about a million people better than you.” – Homer Simpson “Gotcha.  Can’t win, don’t try.” – Bart Simpson

Compare & Contrast: Moe Pulls a Gun

“Hey, there’s something wrong with this guy, he’s not falling down!” – Kearney Sr. “What to Expect When Bart’s Expecting” was such a shambles of a story that trying to compare the whole thing to another episode would be futile.  Finding just a few coherent seconds is hard enough.  But there was one moment that lines up perfectly: Moe pulling his shotgun on people threatening Homer.  Moe did almost the exact same thing in “The Homer They Fall”, only there it was quicker, funnier and made more sense for all involved. To start, compare why Homer is there in each…
