One of the best callbacks in Simpsons.
I used to work in Disney World on the Jungle Cruise ride. One thing my co-workers and I liked to do was to announce on the PA system that we were out of Bort license plates in the gift shop One or two people in line would start laughing while everyone else just looked around in bewilderment. Good times.

I haven’t worked there since 2009, but I remember many of the Jungle Cruise skippers being giant Simpsons fan-boys. Lots of them would call the elephant who could speak on command Stampy. I wonder if they still make the Bort license plate announcement. At the Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios they show the clip of the kid in the gift shop and the one above in the queue video so it’s even more likely now that someone waiting in line would get the reference.
BTW at the Simpsons Ride gift shop (which is a mock up of the Kwik-E-Mart) they sell personalized key chains with an always empty holder for a Bort one.
