It’s time for another episode of Zombie Simpsons.  Per Wikipedia:

Homer and Marge’s date night goes so badly that Homer, who suffered a serious head injury during the fiasco, pretends to go to work instead of staying home to recover and seeks out advice from fictional spy Stradivarius Cain, who gives Homer lessons on how to truly be the husband Marge deserves.
Guest star: Bryan Cranston

At least this week’s lazy, derivative episode title isn’t as long as last week’s.

I hope you guys compare this one to the movie theatre scene in “Colonel Homer”. They had no right to desecreate it!

He threw his shoes away and they hit Flanders…Except he threw his shoes in the opposite directions of Flanders’s house.

Wow, Marcia Wallace, who’s almost ten years older than Kavner, has a lot more of her voice left.

Also, this is quite possibly the worst episode yet.

ok yeah, i felt it this time: both Kavner AND Castellaneta are done for as main characters. If they don’t end the show by season 25 or something, they’ll have to either recourse to autotune, or hire someone else.

To be honest with you, I’m surprised they haven’t pitchshifted the actor’s voices for characters. Just subtly raising or lowering the pitch would actually open up possibilities for new characters, though it might get pretty silly hearing someone who is obviously Castallaneta but with a SLIGHTLY lower pitch. But it might work. Eh.

If you pitch Homer down a little and Marge up a little, it might pass, yeah. MIGHT.

Don’t get me started on how the layout of the house has devolved. Nobody remembers where anyone’s bedroom is anymore.

I actually seem to remember early seasons of the show having inconsistencies amongst the house and its layout… but for some reason, it seems a lot more noticeable and lazy whereas before it was “oh, its a cartoon, we can be inconsistent for the sake of humor.” They don’t know what humor is anymore, so…

Sure, the reason why Homer and Marge were fighting, (Homer’s ruined movies with less consequences, and I’m counting that incident that led to him breaking his jaw that ended up helping his marriage) and Homer being in peril again for some reason were stupid, but I really liked this one!

Also, McBain is 100x the action star that Stradivarius Cain will ever be. He even ripped off McBain popping out of the ice sculpture! And that scene was much more talky!

But that’s nitpicking. I deem this episode “surprisingly funny.”

lol, you seem to like them every so often. i’m afraid we’ll have to put you down because you’re starting to become… one of them.

I, too, like episodes here and there, or at least parts of them… at the very least, I often find a line or two funny or clever per episode, but that’s about it. I mean, if there are 100 gags, and most are shitty, 1 or 2 MIGHT work. I’m still excited to see the show in the hope that it’s going to be watchable but the last few seasons have just been the worst ever…. season 18 was the about the last time I remember seeing an episode or two that I would actually say was beyond just passable.

In general, I try to find something good in everything, but the Zombie creators are making it REALLY hard lately..

Let me guess – The Moonshine?
Well, you can count me out because so far in this season (which is 2 eps short of ending), the only one I thought was ok was the Roosevelt episode. That’s about it. The rest of them don’t even qualify onto Sunday sitcom level (they seem like gag shorts from Letterman night live or something).
Anyway, it’s purely my opinion, of course.

So, in general… it sucked as always. I wouldn’t say worst ever for example, but yeah, it’s prone to get its average 5 million tomorrow.

I’d say their A-plot was so-so because they got off easy. I mean you can’t really do anything consistant while parodying a James Bond saga movie, because whatever happens in them stays in them. But even there, with the only instigue being some classy mob dude we don’t get to hear the name of running after meddlesome Homer who, to him, acts alone, but for some reason, Homer is allowed to have 5 sec stalling to throw lime at this dude’s face, or, even worse, get on to him in a gayest way possible at the end. How come the rest of the folks in the episode just forgive (and forget) it? Are they supposed to know Homer went bananas and acts on behalf of some imaginary friend? There’s not even a joke reference of it.

As for the b-plot, wow, a Supersize Me parody! With a shitty name (even Get Extralarge would’ve been funnier as title)… tsk tsk another recycle bin post-it unfurled and in process. Fat Nelson is funny, but they drop it only because they now think it’s good to get him back together with Lisa for some reason (NeLISAon next season, everyone?). Then she stands up for him and Krusty gets him on steroids. Wow. Can’t poke his pecs with a needle? I’m pretty sure you can do that with the ratings now though. Nuff said.

I found it really bizarre and creepy that there’d be a SuperSize Me! parody, considering I just rewatched that doc yesterday, with no knowledge whatsoever it’d be referenced on Zombie Simpsons.

Also, there was a James Bond marathon yesterday on BBCAmerica, but I’m sure those are quite frequent so I guess that’s not as bizarre.

..In general, this episode was pretty boring, I was only really interested because of Cranston (I think Breaking Bad is the best show currently on tv, definitely the best since the Wire).

Actually, I think there was no point putting him the show. He sounds almost like Azaria (who’s usually prone to do guys in suits on occasions). Cranston would’ve been good for a cameo in this one, no more.

No Mr. Cranston, you’re better than this! Did anyone just see his great role in Archer?

Not to mention Cranston’s excellent turns in two eps of “American Dad”.
