Gay blowjob joke. Oh golly.
Oh hey it’s me again with another relevant youtube short:
I was wondering about something, you guys: Since you are no longer interested in doing new Simpsons episodes, can you please turn your attention to Sierra? Sierra was a great developer, producing a wonderful variety of hilarious, classic adventure games, but it turned into a horrible zombie when Full motion Video became popular. Gabriel Knight, Police Quest, Quest for Glory far outclassed Gabriel Knight 2 and 3, SWAT and Phantasmagoria. You have lots of great quotes, you can compare the humor to the puzzle design and the games are usually fun to play.
Please don’t get me even started on how 95% of gamers consider LucasArts’s Grim Fandango and Escape from Monkey Island crap, and how they are wrong.
Because if you do, my arguing will always end on those greedy fat spoiled console kids who only consume, eat, fart and consume. These motherfuckers destroyed the gaming world back in 1999, so please.
I like Grim Fandango and Escape from Monkey Island, although I prefer Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Super Star Wars and Indiana Jones Trilogy.
See, that’s the main problem. The plot in Grim Fandango was always comparable to the one in Full Throttle for me. The jokes were even better at times. The character personas, moods, interpretation and all were brilliant. The ONLY thing that destroyed the experience was the 3D, right? WRONG! It wasn’t the 3D per se, but the fact that some other companies (let’s not call names) released games with much better graphics, and while these games had absolutely nothing even close of adventure/quest atmosphere, they reached higher popularity just for that. The eye candy destroyed the message. That’s what I deplore.
I thought Grim Fandango was fairly well regarded. Not to fuel your fire, but I’ve heard the “Runaway” series, while continuing the legacy of adventure games in the early-mid 2000s, is actually pretty bad from a writing stance.
I loved those games back in the 90’s on my PC.
