The exact catchphrase that came to mind when I heard the news.
RIP
Also, you forgot the Treehouse of Horror VI tag.
Fixed, thanks. (I swapped this one in somewhat hastily this morning.)
Did Robin Williams ever do a guest spot on the show? I know Dan Castellaneta can do a vocal impression of him (which is why he was cast as the replacement voice of the Genie on Disney’s Aladdin when it became a weekday afternoon cartoon series in the 1990s), but I think Williams was one of the few celebrities not to do a guest spot on the show, which, if this were still classic Simpsons, would be a tragedy. Since it’s Zombie/Dork Age Simpsons, then, not to sound heartless, it’s a very lucky break.
I thought you were gonna go with this, but since it’s borderline Zombie Simpsons (i.e., Season 11), I can understand why you didn’t:
I though Zombie Simpsons started around season 10 (at least for me) and progressively got worse from there. However, this is from one of the few (like around 2 to 3) season 11 episodes that I actually liked. It’s called Grift of the Magi [no, it’s not the one where Homer and Bart begin scamming people and it ended with that surfing montage. This was the one where the school closes down after Skinner hires the local mob to make wheelchair ramps for Bart and a toy company buys the school and turns it into a focus group for the new holiday gift]. Yes, it was a bit broad and silly in some places, but it wasn’t totally unwatchable.
And I guess when they do that “Every Simpsons episode ever” marathon in late August on FXX, they’re probably going to cut out the line about being “Class 9 or Robin Williams hairy” because it’s “too soon.”
They went with a quote from that very same episode yesterday. Don’t see why they couldn’t have.
On Sunday, I mean. Yesterday’s was one from Bart’s Comet
I didn’t think this was a particularly great episode, but I liked this bit.
I don’t get this quote’s relationship to Robin Williams…
“Shazbot” was a word Williams made up for Mork & Mindy. It became not only his catchphrase for awhile, but also one of those brief cultural fads, like people asking “Is that your final answer?” or “Call me maybe”.
