We were at Toys R Us a few months ago buying a present for a 1-year-old.
Most one-year-olds are likely more interested in the wrapping paper and the box rather than the toy itself, but still we bought some $60 piece of junk.
And I realized that we weren’t really buying the present for the kid, but rather for his parents – because we wanted to show them that we cared about the kid. Also we were investing because hopefully when we have kids those people will then spend money on our precious little perfect flawless amazing awesome perfect angels.

That’s how they get ya in advertising toys. Think back to your childhood and how you always whined, screamed, begged, and cried for your parents to give you that one special toy. It probably wasn’t worth the plastic it was molded from.

Don’t have children. First of all, it’s shitty. Second, gov’t rapes you with taxes if you have kids. Third, if you’re a guy, any chick can later screw you up with your own child and you’ll end up paying her bills for nada. And finally, when you’re 60, they won’t most likely take care of you. You’ll end up in a retirement home anyway, so what good will your son/daughter be?

Hm, your argument intrigues me and I’d like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Wow, there’s actually so much detail on that shelf I’ve never noticed before.
The homer trolls.
The iron giant.
The ratchet rod hotrod guy.
And the smile-a-phone thingo-majick.
