See, here’s another joke that makes me go “ewww”, especially after he finds that thing still half-eaten under his couch.
Wanna know what’s worse: the whole sandwich part was based on a real sandwich that went bad in the writers’ room. The good news: it didn’t turn purple with mushrooms on it nor did anyone still eat it when it was so rotten that doing so would cause food poisoning or death.
“Selma’s Choice” has a lot of great moments in it. That’s why I think it’s the best episode of season four (moreso than “Last Exit in Springfield,” but not as much as “Marge and the Monorail.”)
I fully acknowledge that Homer is in no way a cartoon representation of someone IRL. In fact, even eating like he does at an all-you-can-eat at some point cannot go unharmed to one’s general health.
However, the joke itself requires some “ewww” setup, I guess for the sake of it. I’m glad I learned not to consume food while watching some of these episodes recently.
Classic!!!!!!

Nice try, Charlie, but I saw this post come up early in my inbox late last night! (Noticed it from others, too, maybe it was a WordPress error thing?)
You may have deleted the post, but you can’t fool me!
Pushed the wrong button. Damn you, Victor!
