Diatribe of a Mad Housewife Makes Baby Jesus Cry

“This romance is so full of heartfelt passion.  I can really identify with this corn fed heroine.” – Marge Simpson At this point, Zombie Simpsons commentaries are a known quantity: there will be compliments on the animation, lots of digressions and tangents, and Al Jean will swoop in to rescue the conversation every time the rest of them just give up and go silent.  This one is no different.  Marge writes a novel, Homer gets a new job, and there are a lot of guest stars, a couple of which Jean forgets about.  An even ten guys on this one:…

Reading Digest: The Joys of Picture Phones Edition

“Oh, this?  No, I’ve just got a touch of the rheumatis.” – Marge Simpson “Oh.” – Lisa Simpson “Whew.” – Marge Simpson  “Mom, picture phone.” – Lisa Simpson Our first link this week is to a YouTube/Google+/Google Hangout/Google Whatever interview with Al Jean.  In it he briefly mentions a non-existent video game (which in turn begets tens of thousands of words of empty, pageview chasing speculation) and discusses a number of other topics, some well trod, some not.  What makes this more fun than most Jean interviews where he repeats the same few statements over and over again (no I…

Simpsons T-Shirt Designs Galore!

“Eighteen bucks for this?  What a ripoff!” – Some Guy Yesterday was the entry deadline for Threadless’s Simpsons design contest.  All told they accepted 820 submissions (and there was a real rush at the end because that number was 494 when I checked it yesterday afternoon).  You can view all of them here, and scoring goes on until Tuesday, so you’ve got plenty of time to vote.  I’m not sure how many they are going to actually print, but there are definitely a couple that I’d consider actually buying.  Below are some of the ones I liked best, but there…

Reading Digest: Cable Expansion Edition

“How can one little insulated wire bring so much happiness?” – Homer Simpson The big news this week was the deliberate media leak that FOX is considering selling the cable rights to The Simpsons and Zombie Simpsons next year.  This was a little unexpected in that one of the reasons the show has never been on cable is that the over-the-air syndication deal prohibits such a thing so long as new episodes are being made.  So did this indicate that the show would be ending?  No: However, unlike most syndication deals, the “Simpsons”-cable syndication does not spell doom for the…
