“That medicine seems to be giving your son a lotta gas.” – Rube “I assure you his belching is the result of an unrelated alcohol problem.” – Abe “Grandpa” Simpson

Citation Is Not Satire – Video Game Edition

“If I were you I really would use those quarters for laundry.” – Noiseland Video Arcade Guy The internet is filled with people who love television and video games, and so the brief Halo/teabagging bit from last Sunday’s Zombie Simpsons was mentioned in many places.  I saw it on Joystiq first, but this description from Kotaku sums things up well: I guess we can move the trend marker for “Teabagging in Halo” on the downward trajectory of its lifespan, just to the right of the shark fin. That’s about right, by the time Zombie Simpsons gets around to mentioning something…

Quote of the Day

“And with my patented seminar you will learn how to corner the real estate market through hypnosis.  Why waste your hypnotic powers on neighbors and co-workers . . .” – Late Night Infomercial Announcer

No fat chicks. No, really.

Believe it or not, The Simpsons has a storied history of hating on fat chicks. This is the second third in a series of three four such jokes, preceeded by Homer’s “no fat chicks” billboard remark in “Marge vs. The Monorail” and his “No Fat Chicks” t-shirt in “Marge on the Lam,” and followed by the song “Minimum Wage Nanny” in “Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious.”  It’s entirely possible that other “no fat chicks” references have popped up elsewhere since Season 8, but hopefully no one who really appreciates what we do here at Dead Homer Society gives a shit.  (Thanks for the…

If you stop praising it: Waverly Hillis 9-0-2-1-D’oh

“I’m sick of you people, you’re nothing but a pack of fickle mush heads!” – ‘Diamond’ Joe Quimby “He’s right!” – Female Fickle Mush Head “Give us hell Quimby!” – Male Fickle Mush Head I usually look around various Simpsons forums so as to poke fun at the faithful before I watch the weekly crap fest, but this time I decided to watch it first.  And may I say that was a terrible episode, right on par with the rest of the season, and preceding seasons to boot.  I would also like to add that more and more of the…

Synergy Fakes an Orgasm

“Hey everybody, I’m gonna haul ass to Lollapalooza!” – Abe “Grandpa” Simpson This week’s IGN Zombie Simpsons fellatio is an exercise in sloppily faked enthusiasm.  Lisa’s teacher is Miss Hoover, not Mrs. Hoover (part of the fun of Ms. Hoover is that she very much wants to be Mrs. Somebody and isn’t).  Then there’s “science water”, which very pointedly isn’t capitalized in the episode but is in the review.  There are also a couple of basic editing errors.  If you’re going to pretend to enjoy something you’ve got to pay attention to the details or else your paramour/meal ticket might become…

Quote of the Day

“Okay, let’s go over the ground rules.  You can’t leave first until you chug a beer, any man scoring has to chug a beer, you have to chug a beer at the top of all odd numbered innings, oh and the fourth inning is the beer inning.” – Umpire “Hey, we know how to play softball.” – Chief Wiggum

Zombie Simpsons: Copy & Paste FAIL

What to make of the images below?  Were these clever throwbacks designed to be shoutouts to long time fans?  Or was it simply a copy and paste job done out of laziness?     The rest of the episode, a hodgepodge of chases and exposition, sucked too.  Given last week’s dismal viewership I’m going to be hopeful and set the over/under at a flat 6.00 million viewers.  C’mon under.   Update: TV by the Numbers says, “I just received notice that the Sunday Night fast affiliate ratings that we use for our posts have been delayed due to Nielsen processing…

Quote of the Day

“Why don’t you pick one that’s a little more frisky, sir.” – Maitre D’ “Why?” – Homer Simpson “Well, when you choose one that’s floating upside down it somewhat defeats the purpose of selecting a live lobster.” – Maitre D’

Simpsons a cappella

We’re probably the last people on the internet to post this, but if you were able to wipe the tears from your eyes and the blood from your ears at the end of that monstrosity last Sunday you may have seen the beginning of this video at the start of the end credits: (via) That is pretty damn cool.  The only thing that remains is for someone to put up a YouTube video of that audio synched with the video of the opening sequence.  Regardless, bravo Canvas, bravo.

Quote of the Day

“You know the funniest thing though?  It’s the little differences.” – Lou “Example.” – Chief Wiggum “Well at McDonald’s you can buy a Krusty Burger with cheese, right?  But they don’t call it a Krusty Burger with cheese.” – Lou “Get out, well what do they call it?” – Chief Wiggum “A quarter pounder with cheese.” – Lou “Quarter pounder with cheese?  Well I can picture the cheese, but uh . . . do they have Krusty partially gelatinated non-dairy gum based beverages?” – Chief Wiggum “Mmm-hmm, they call ‘em shakes.” – Lou “Shakes.  You don’t know what you’re getting.”…

Friday Link Dump – Communist Edition

“Must . . . crush . . . capitalism!” – Lenin It’s May Day, and that means it’s time to clean the blood of the workers from the machinery of capitalism. Five Reactionary Rules of The Simpsons – Have you always wanted to read an 1,800 word dissection of The Simpsons written by a communist?  Today’s your day.  I love the internet, truly the home of the bizarre rant.  Do you know The Simpsons?  Take our quiz – There are a lot of Simpsons quizzes out there, but this one gets linked because it has an answer I consider debatable.  The…

Nude Conspiracy on the Supreme Court

It was announced this morning that nerd of note David Souter, left, plans to retire back to his home state of New Hampshire at the end of the Supreme Court’s current term in June.   Now, we all know that Earl Warren was secretly a stripper, and then on Wednesday’s Colbert Report we learned that Justice Stephen Breyer used to have people stick things in his underwear, “mostly singles” according to Colbert.  (The story starts at the 4:20 mark.)  If we put those two factesque things together we’re left with an obvious and inescapable conclusion: a cabal of strippers…

Quote of the Day

“Me and Santa’s Little Helper used to be a team, but he never wants to play anymore since his bitch moved in.” – Bart Simpson “Bart, don’t ever say that word again.” – Marge Simpson “Well that’s what she is, I looked it up.” – Bart Simpson “Well, I’m going to write the dictionary people and have that checked, feels like a mistake to me.” – Marge Simpson
